Guangdong Province Puppet Troupe
Renowned for their ingenuity and complexity, the Guangdong Province Puppet Troupe's puppets are distinctly unique. In a series of vignettes based on Chinese history and folk tales, these elaborately designed rod puppets and marionettes are deftly manipulated by a troupe of puppeteers who interact with and perform alongside their puppets - heroes, villains, clowns, princesses, gods, and lively animal characters. Traditional lively percussion and melodic instrumentation, underscore stories that are rich with Confucian themes of honesty, integrity, courage, and kindness. Humor, action, and beauty abound, while the wisdom and wit of the animal world provide potent life lessons.
