Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir: A Celebration of 20 Years Concert
The Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir (TCCGC) announces its 20-year commemorative concert in conjunction with its momentous 20th anniversary season. The celebrations commenced with a December 2010 release of the 85-member community choir's fourth album, "He Did It," featuring ten original tracks, nine of which were written and produced by national recording artist Darnell Davis.
The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at Benson Great Hall, Bethel University, 3900 Bethel Drive in Saint Paul, MN. The event will showcase songs that draw upon both the historical roots of African American inspired gospel music as well as the choir's own experience as an organization committed to spreading soulfulness and community across racial, cultural and economic boundaries in the Upper Midwest. In preparation for the big show, the choir will host a one-of-a-kind reunion experience that allows previous and current members of the community choir as well as newcomers to the choir to join their voices in singing a medley of new works and old favorites. The concert's headliner will be the choir's founder and beloved gospel virtuoso, Robert Robinson.
"We are so very excited to celebrate our 20th year and to welcome back so many of our alumni choir members who will forever remain an important part of our extended choir family. Twenty years worth of energetic community building is no small feat, so we'll be proudly celebrating in a way that reminds people that helping hands can be clapping hands too," said Sandra Robinson Hodges, who became artistic director for the choir last year when her brother, Robert Robinson, relinquished the executive director role he'd held since the choir's inception to focus on his solo career.
