Soiree with Andrea Alban
Please join Litquake for our first Author Soiree of 2011, March 27 from 4-6:30 pm. Tickets are $75 and include food, specialty cocktails, and a free signed book.

Join us as we meet and mingle with local luminaries, and help support our ongoing mission to present the most vibrant literary festival west of the Mississippi.

Author Andrea Alban celebrates the launch of her widely praised debut novel Anya's War by hosting this soirée at her elegant home in St. Francis Wood. A feast of ethnic cuisine will represent a melting pot of cultures present in 1930s Shanghai, the setting of Anya's War, along with Shanghai Martinis and a soda bar. In addition, each guest receives a signed copy of the novel, based on the author's family history in Jewish Shanghai.

Joining Andrea will be:

Frances Dinkelspiel is the bestselling author of Towers of Gold: How One Jewish Immigrant Named Isaias Hellman Created California, co-founder of the news site berkeleyside.com, and contributor to The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and People.

Alan Kaufman's books include the memoir Jew Boy, the novel Matches and The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry.

Lissa Rovetch has written and/or illustrated more than 20 picture, poetry, and chapter books, including There Was a Man Who Loved a Rat and Other Vile Little Poems, and Hot Dog and Bob and the Particularly Pesky Attack of the Pencil People. She teaches children's book and creativity classes at California College of the Arts and Pixar Studios.

Kristen Tracy is the author of many novels for children and young adults, including Lost It, Crimes of the Sarahs, A Field Guide for Heartbreakers, and the forthcoming book, The Reinvention of Bessica Lefter.

Belle Yang is the Taiwanese-American author of illustrated books for both adults and children, and has lived in China, Japan, Scotland, and the U.S. The recently published Forget Sorrow (W.W. Norton) is her graphic memoir.
