Japanese Classical Comedy - Kyogen at its Best!
Japanese kyogen comedy is considered to be the counterpart of Japanese noh theatre, both a 600-year old Japanese theatre art form. Partnering with the Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City, Calif., the Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS) will present two shows by the Theatre of Yugen from San Francisco on Sunday, August 26, at 2:00 pm and at 7:00 pm at the Miners Foundry. (Each performance features two short comedies: "Basu" (Sweet Poison) and "Kazumo" (Sumo Wrestling with a Mosquito.) For fans of multicultural theatre and comedy, you will not want to miss this one!
