Rodgers & Hammerstein's magnum opus is considered by most critics to be among the greatest musicals of the twentieth century. Although well known for its extraordinary score including Some Enchanted Evening, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair, and Bali Ha'i - it is also a deeply felt drama. Its portrayal of Americans stationed overseas amidst a foreign culture during wartime is as relevant today as it was when it first thrilled audiences in 1949.
