Meet a cast of truly exceptional, extraordinary and unforgettable "Women of Passion" when the Verdi Chorus presents excerpts from three of opera's most powerful and memorable works Verdi's rarely performed opera, "Giovanna d'Arco" (Joan of Arc), "Cavalleria Rusticana" by Mascagni, and the Viennese operetta "Countess Mariza" by Emmerich Kalman on Saturday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica. California.
"Joan of Arc, the Countess, and Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana are each incredibly compelling 'Women of Passion,' " says Music Director Anne Marie Ketchum. "Once we meet them, we're spellbound forever."
Joining the Verdi Chorus are three equally compelling guest artists: soprano Monica Schober; tenor Robert MacNeil; and baritone Joseph Lodato. While Schober and Lodato are performing with the Chorus for the first time, for MacNeil the engagement is a return visitand a welcome one.
