Lead Feet and Nothing Upstairs
The Manual Archives will open in June with Lead Feet and Nothing Upstairs: A History of the Lifelike. This puppet play tells the tale of the Ditto Sisters, identical triplets who set off a rash of architectural and perhaps human replication in the city of Los Angeles. This multi-layered performance, with puppets playing dummies, pixels resembling puppets, and puppets mimicking people invoking automata, is a complex exploration of and entertaining indulgence in fakery and the willing suspension of disbelief, set lovingly in the city unconcerned with the cult of originality.
