The Raven: Three Tales by Edgar Allan Poe
As Halloween approaches, New York State Ballet pays homage to Edgar Allan Poe, the American author and poet best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre.  In their haunting balletic interpretations of The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Cask of Amontillado, the dancers gracefully and eerily explore common themes found in Poe's writing such as Gothic horror, suspense, the alienation of the psyche, and the power that the dead can exert over the living.
