The Monitors in Concert
The Monitors form an outstanding music ensemble. They have been organized for more than 50 years. During that time they have performed at numerous events.

The Monitors have played at concerts, Mardi Gras, Hawaiian Luaus, wedding receptions, proms, cabarets, and street festivals to name a few. They have been the back up band for celebrity artists such as Otis Redding, Millie Jackson, Major Lance, Faye Adams, Joyce Thorne, Connie Harvey, Maceo Parker, and Milton Bulluck. They provided the opening concert for international stars Ray Charles and Roberta Flack. Flack was once the lead vocalist of the Monitors. They were the featured guest with the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra and recently completed a tour in North and South Carolina with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra.

Bill Myers have led the band for more than 50 years while continuing to educate successive generation of students as a band teacher and school administrator. Mr. Myers plays keyboard, saxophone, and flute and is a composer/arranger of music. He was recently named a recipient of the North Carolina Heritage Award by the North Carolina Arts Council.

Performing with the Monitors is vocalist and arranger Sherry Winston. Sherry is originally from Chicago, is the featured vocalist for The Winston Band and sings a variety of styles from Gospel to Jazz. She has performed in a variety of settings from events for Congresswoman Eva Clayton to opening for Lou Rawls. In 1998 she was accepted into the Jazz Improvisational Workshop at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst studying with guests such as Billy Taylor, Brother Yusef Lateff, Fred Tillis, and jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan.

Please join us for an evening of phenomenal entertainment by these artists as they share their stories and experiences.
