Northern Light Opera Company presents WEST SIDE STORY
One of the most celebrated musicals of all time comes to Park Rapids this summer: "West Side Story"!
This Northern Light Opera Company production will transport audiences to the gang-ridden streets of 1950s Manhattan, dominated by the Sharks and the Jets. Two teens from the bitter-enemy gangs meet and fall in love at a fateful gym dance.
With Leonard Bernstein's brilliant score, Stephen Sondheim's memorable lyrics and dynamic choreography inspired by Jerome Robbins, this ground-breaking musical tale of star-crossed lovers was originally nominated for six Tony Awards, and its film won a record 10 Oscars. The Northern Light Opera Company works hard to retain its reputation for professional-quality productions, with live orchestras, excellent scenic and costume design and fluid staging.
