xyz nyc: THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND!
xyz nyc is a new approach to dance-making in New York City. A cross between a choreographic laboratory and a reality tv game show, dancers and choreographers are randomly grouped together, and within a week create new dances that are performed before an audience. This show marks The Championship Round - so winners from all of the past xyz nyc's this year (Sarah Foster, October winner, Mary Sofianos, January winner, and Gabrielle Giordano, March winner) will come together to compete for a 2-night run of an evening-length work at The Tank! Esteemed Guest Judge Abby Bender, Executive/Artistic Director of Triskelion Arts will provide feedback and commentary, but the audience will ultimately pick the winner. Lastly, Guest Artist Mei Yamanaka will close the show with her solo, "Under the World."
