Farm City Chautauqua: Communal Table: Pickles and Roots

An evening devoted springtime food traditions and pickling possibilities, like rhubarb, ramps and mushrooms. Participants will taste pickles from around the world, make jars of refrigerator pickles to take home, and share stories about preserved foods' role in ethnic and social roots. Sample varied pickled including Japanese, Eastern European and Latin American. Complementary foods like pickled fish, boiled potatoes and sour dough bread will be served to round out a meal and balance the brine.
