An Afternoon with Alice McDermott
Alice McDermott, National Book Award winner for Charming Billy and three-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, joins us for a Sunday afternoon reading. Her literary works include After This, At Weddings and Wakes, That Night, and A Bigamist's Daughter. She writes about "the great, human truths." "McDermott is something of a specialist in the literature of wry sorrow she's Irish, after all," Ron Charles writes in The Christian Science Monitor. She is the Richard A. Macksey Professor for Distinguished Teaching in the Humanities at The Johns Hopkins University. A question & answer session follows the reading, along with a reception and book signing.
