DEFYING GRAVITY - The Best Of Stephen Schwartz
Marin Summer Theater is pleased to present the world premiere of a new musical revue, DEFYING GRAVITY: THE BEST OF STEPHEN SCHWARTZ.
MST has received special permission from The Stephen Schwartz Organization and Disney Music to present a musical review of Mr. Schwartz's best work. In a career spanning over four decades, Schwartz has written such hit musicals as Godspell (1971), Pippin (1972) and Wicked (2003). He has contributed lyrics for a number of successful films, including Pocahontas (1995), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), The Prince of Egypt (1998; music and lyrics) and Enchanted (2007). Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, three Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards.
DEFYING GRAVITY will include songs from shows spanning Mr. Schwartz's stage and film career including:
- Wicked
- Pippin
- Godspell
- The Baker's Wife
- Pocahontas
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- Captain Louie
The cast for DEFYING GRAVITY will include students from MST's 2015 Musical Theater Madness Workshop.
