Valentines Day Film Nite: "Ninotchka"
Film Nite at Galapagos! We'll be screening "Ninotchka" (1939) this Valentines Day: a classic romantic comedy with a clever and witty script and the magnificent presence of actress Greta Garbo in her first official American comedy. The charming film about clashing ideologies (Soviet communism vs. capitalism) begins with Garbo portrayed as a humorless, cold, curt, Russian envoy (in a parody of her own stiff onscreen image), who soon melts and is transformed by a persuasive playboy Count into a frivolous, romantic figure.
Whether you're bringing your Valentine or just looking for a relaxed, fun evening out, don't miss this fantastic 1930s classic. Pizza will be provided from the legendary Dumbo pizzeria Grimaldi's ($4/slice).
