Breaking Ranks: Human/Nature Reading & Performance
"Breaking Ranks" in military usage indicates the movement of a group to fall out of line, allowing each person to go his or her own way. The Bay Area artists, performers, and writers included in this multimedia exhibition and day of site-specific readings and performance break ranks from the status quo to investigate the arbitrary division between Nature and Culture.

On Sunday, February 13, we've invited artists to site performance pieces that activate both the natural landscape and the cultural history of military presence on Headlands' site. The day is organized as a progression, starting at 2PM, with artist guides leading audience members from site to site in and around Headlands' campus.

Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes, or alternately, feel free to drive or bike the short distance between locations. In case of rain, indoor performances will remain as scheduled; outdoor pieces may migrate indoors.
