HANDMADE MUSIC
HANDMADE MUSIC is an event series for people who make objects that make music -- musicians who are also hackers, builders, and DIYers. This monthly event held at culturefix is taking place next on Saturday February 5th from 3pm- 2am. The event is split into two parts, flowing into each other. At 3pm, there is a free and open laboratory in which people bring projects to work on and share skills based around a specific concept, material, or artist. This month's open laboratory is featuring the open source MeeBlip synthesizer hardware. At 8pm, this workshop morphs into a noisy party, with sounds ranging from experimental instruments to Game Boys and vintage digital synths to computers and the monome, hand-built digital grids used in electronic music. Visitors can chow down on tapas and drinks from culturefix (with a two-hour open bar!), shop boutique electronics at dijitalfix, get close to artists to find out how their gear works, or simply take in the bleeps, bloops, and hums.
