While women have made enormous strides in the workforce and in earnings, many women face new obstacles when it comes to their finances.  These challenges include the fact that women typically still earn less money than men for doing the same job.  In addition, they traditionally have been less involved in financial matters.  Also, women in today’s society are living longer than men, and therefore require more retirement income.  Despite this reality, most women have saved less for their retirement, have smaller pensions, and enjoy fewer social security benefits than men.

MaryAnn Walker is a Certified Financial Planner, specializing in retirement planning and education funding.  She is a graduate of Marquette University.  Laurie Barry is also a Certified Financial Planner, specializing in retirement and estate planning.  She is a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign.  In 1999, Laurie completed a course offered through the Institute of Certified Divorce Planners to become more knowledgeable on the financial aspects of divorce.  She is a member of the Divorce Financial Analysts and the Chicago Estate Planning Council.

Our speakers will break down the obstacles to investing and give you insights to start investing toward your goals.  There will be an opportunity for questions following the presentation.

Join us for this meeting and networking!  Our members are partners and staff in CPA firms; CFOs, controllers and other accountants for privately or publicly held companies; academicians; internal auditors and accountants for government agencies or non-profit entities; recent college graduates; and women returning to the workforce.  See our web site at www.aswachicago.org.
