Bethesda Green Luncheon Speaker Series: How the Greening of Montgomery County's Facilities and Operations Can Create Opportunities for Green Businesses

Speaker: Eric Coffman, Chief, Office of Energy and Sustainability, Montgomery County Government
Montgomery County Government
Montgomery County Government has a strong commitment to promote sustainability throughout the county, including incorporating sustainability into its own facilities and operations. Eric's presentation will include a summary of efforts to reduce energy consumption, conserve water, reduce stormwater run-off and purchase environmentally preferable products. Furthermore, he will offer a perspective on how this can drive purchases of green products from green businesses. The county's Office of Energy and Sustainability (OES) coordinates initiatives between County government organizations to reduce its overall environmental footprint of operations. OES also oversees the management and purchasing of utility-related commodities as well as renewable energy projects.
Eric R. Coffman
Eric R. Coffman, CEM, CEP, LEED-AP, is Chief of the County's OES within the Department of General Services. OES is one of two offices created by the County to address greenhouse gas reductions and sustainability in the County. Before joining OES, Eric was the County's Senior Energy Planner within the Department of Environmental Protection where he was responsible for a wide array of energy planning, policy, and programs.
