For more information visit www.bellmuseum.org <http://www.bellmuseum.org> . February topic: The Controversy Surrounding Non-Native Species
Today's environments consist of long-term resident species and newcomers, often referred to as "exotic", "alien", or "non-native" species. Many people view native species as inherently preferable to non-native species. Mark Davis, Macalester College biology professor and author of Invasion Biology, will discuss the contemporary study of non-native species and how our perceptions are influenced not only by science but also by our own ideology.
