Theater of a Two-Headed Calf: You, My Mother: The Chamber Opera Project
In their most collaboratively ambitious project to date, the Two-Headed Calf pairs up three of today's most exciting playwrights (Lisa D'Amour, Karinne Keithley and Kristen Kosmas) with three fascinating new music composers (Chaya Czernowin, Rick Burkhardt and Brendan Connelly) to create three 30-minute 'chamber operas.' These work-in-progress performances revolve around the idea of motherhood, embodied by a real mother-daughter team--Natalia Romana and Laryssa Husiak. The music will be performed by New York-based chamber ensemble Yarn/Wire plus Strings. The show will premiere at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theater in February 2012, on the occasion of La MaMa's 50th anniversary.
