African Expressions Dance Workshop Winter Session I
Hedwig Dances presents the African Expressions Dance Workshop taught by instructor Amaniyea Payne, Artistic Director of Muntu Dance Theatre. African Expressions takes place on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the dance studio on the first floor of the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington (at Michigan Avenue). The first session is January 19 to February 23, 2011 (six weeks) and the second session is March 2-30, 2011 (five weeks). The workshop provides an experience in natural rhythmic movements and incorporates traditional African dance, Caribbean dance and African American culture into the movement. The class awakens the senses through muscle toning, breathing exercises and movement, all to the accompaniment of live African drumming. All levels are welcome.
