DIY Neuroscience: Hands-on SpikerBox Workshop
Interested in Neuroscience and electrophysiology? In this hands-on workshop we'll be working with SpikerBoxes from Backyard Brains. SpikerBoxes monitor the action potential (electrical activity) of neurons. With just a SpikerBox and a smartphone or computer, you'll be able to see and hear the electrical activity of neurons in real time!
We will be joined by a special guest Dr. Steve Potter, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech to share insights into Neuroscience and the field today.
Dr. Potter will lead a discussion exploring the neuroscience of action potentials and electrophysiology. Students will get hands-on experience working with spikerboxes to record action potentials of their own muscles as well as the action potential of specimen.
Note that this class will be working with cockroaches and/or crickets. The HiveBio team will be there to help you out. We will need to download the Backyard Brains app to view our data.
Class minimum of 3+ to run the course, we will notify you if we do not have enough signups and refund your ticket purchase.
