How to Write Like I Do with Myla Goldberg and Megan Kelso
Best-selling novelist Myla Goldberg (Bee Season, The False Friend) and nationally-acclaimed cartoonist Megan Kelso (The Squirrel Mother, Artichoke Tales) are not only big names in the worlds of literature and comics, but also old friends whose ten-year friendship has always included sharing thoughts about the creative process - problem solving, idea nurturing and development, editing, and figuring out how to know when you have finished something. Please join these two creators as they discuss the roles of imagery, memory, intellect, fantasy--and friendship--in their work, culminating in a guided writing exercise that will draw upon the techniques they've discussed, to help you to get your own creative juices flowing.  This promises to be a great evening for writers and cartoonists alike, as well as anyone interested in a behind-the-scenes look at how stories of all forms take shape on the page.

Bio: Myla Goldberg is the best selling author of Wickett's Remedy and The Bee Season. She is "disturbingly" double jointed and can sometimes taste things in her dreams. Her most recent novel, The False Friend, was released in October 2010. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and their daughter.

Bio: Megan Kelso does not have a middle name. She has been drawing comics for nineteen years and plans to continue drawing until she is an old, old lady. She has lived in Seattle for most of her life except during a six-and-a-half-year stint in New York. Her third book, Artichoke Tales, was published by Fantagraphics in June 2010.
