Two-Part, Hands-On Rain Garden Workshop
WSU Pierce County Extension is hosting a Two-Part, Hands-On Rain Garden Workshop for Master Gardeners, Rain Garden Specialists and landscape professionals. Non-Master Gardeners earn a certificate of completion. Master Gardeners who complete the class become Rain Garden Specialists.
When & Where: Two Day Workshop -Part 1- May 16th 9:30-4:30 at WSU Pierce County Extension Office, 3602 Pacific Ave., Tacoma -Part 2- June 6th 9:00-5:00 at a local field site for hands-on rain garden construction practice
Cost: $15 for Master Gardeners (financial Assistance is available to Pierce County Master Gardeners) $35 for non-Master Gardeners
Part 1, May 16th: -LID/Green Stormwater Infrastructure overview -Rain garden design & construction -Calculating material volumes -Working with elevation/grades -Plant selection, procurement and planning -Maintaining a rain garden for function and aesthetics
Part 2, June 6th -Work in the field as a team to install a rain garden. Tools, equipment and snacks provided.
