The Nursing Consortium of South Florida is please to announce that its next educational conference
Advances in Healthy Work Environment Initiatives
will take place on Friday the 4th of February 2011 at the
Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel

This one-day educational conference will inform those in attendance, including many of the regions nurse leaders in practice and academia, of the most current strategies for creating and sustaining work environments that optimize the safe delivery of a high standard of care. The event will feature numerous presentations and opportunities for networking during registration, lunch, and the morning and afternoon breaks.
Featured speakers include:
Nancy T. Blake, R.N., MSN, CCRN, CNAA
Director of Critical Care Services
Children's Hospital Los Angeles
Nancy Blake, a nationally recognized speaker on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses' Healthy Work Environment initiatives, will speak about her own experiences with the program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and how successfully implementing it has improved the performance of her unit and saved costs.
Connie Barden, RN, MSN, CCRN, CCNS
Clinical Nurse Specialist, eICU
Baptist Health South Florida
Connie Barden, former President of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses will provide an overview of the AACN standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments. Her remarks will provide insight on how and why those specific standards became adopted during her tenure as AACN President and how the program has help nurses across the country have a stronger voice in improving their environment for the benefit of patients and caregivers alike.

Trish Celano, newly elected Treasurer of the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, is an enthusiastic proponent of Healthy Work Environment initiatives and will share why program implementation is worth the effort and investment in this age of nationally published patient outcome and satisfaction measures.
If nurses are to make their optimal contributions in caring for patients and patients' families, establishing and sustaining healthy work environments is a must. The link between healthy work environments and patient safety, nurse retention and recruitment, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes is irrefutable. Conference attendees will learn the ingredients for success under the AACN Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments - skilled communication, true collaboration, effective decision making, appropriate staffing, meaningful recognition and authentic leadership.

General admission of $90.00 per person to this one-day conference includes continental breakfast, morning and afternoon breaks, and lunch at the Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel. Employees of Consortium member organizations may register online at the discounted rate of $80.00.
