Special Needs
SPECIAL NEEDS is a story about how a family raising a special needs son draws on friendship, humor, faith, and occasional sheer force of will to navigate the always unexpected journey when you share your life with an atypical soul. SPECIAL NEEDS explores the landscape of perception, moving back and forth from the viewpoint of parents Connie and Matt to the inner life of Pierce. Pierce's mental dialogue is populated with a rich mixture of video game warriors and complex mathematical equations, all trying to work together to make order of a chaotically perceived universe. Pierce and his family are aided by a compassionate teacher and good friends, but challenged by those who antagonize and dismiss the different. SPECIAL NEEDS is an atypical play about an atypical kid.
