Wilderness Torah's Gan Torah Children's Program
Gan Torah is a weekly outdoor experience for 4th-6th graders that teaches children to learn and experience Torah and Jewish life in tune with nature and seasonal cycles. It will help them experience their own Jewish spirituality through nature awareness, ecological understanding, and the opportunity to enact personal power and responsibility.
Late Winter Session:
Late Winter - BaMidbar: In the Wilderness
6-week session for 8-10 year olds, meets at Redwood Regional Park starting on February 27. If you register your child for Gan Torah, they come free to Tu B'Shvat in the Redwoods on Sunday, January 23rd.
Bring to life the lessons of the Jewish people wandering in the wilderness as we develop important community and wilderness survival skills in the forest, including foraging, tracking, shelter-building, fire-building, and lost-proofing. Our skill-building will be embedded in Torah stories as we travel through the Jewish calendar from Tu B'Shvat, the New Year of the Trees, toward Passover, the day of our liberation from slavery into wilderness!
Sundays, 10-1PM, starting February 27th.
Gan Torah is a nature-based Jewish learning program for 8-10 year olds in the Bay Area of any denomination or observance level who seek to integrate and ground nature-based exploration and environmental action within Jewish spirituality, tradition, and ethics. Classes will meet at regional parks and in a community garden. Classes are taught by Jewish nature educator, Ariela Ronay-Jinich.
Wilderness Torah awakens and celebrates the earth-based traditions of Judaism to nourish the connections between self, community, earth and Spirit.
