Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Day Two (Bouts #5 & #7) Plus Mashed Poetics

Day two will see some poets flinging caution aside as they try to move up in the rankings, while other poets will be under pressure to maintain their position. Poets will be performing two and three minute poems.

At the end of Day Two, we will announce which 12 of the 40 competing poets will advance to CIPS Finals Night.

Doors at 6:30pm.
Bout #5 starts at 7pm.
Bout #7 starts at 8:30pm.
Mashed Poetics starts at 10:30pm.

Tickets for these bouts include admission to Mashed Poetics.

Special Late Night Show: Mashed Poetics

Mashed Poetics is a night of spoken word and music mash-up where poetic collaboration and cross pollination occur and the divide between "page" and "stage" poets is blurred. A classic music album is chosen and poets are assigned a song from the album to create a new piece of work for the show.

In this edition of Mashed Poetics, the 1983 self-titled album by Violent Femmes will be performed live with poets presented new works inspired by the music between each song.

Come for dinner and stay late. Café Deux Soleils will offer kitchen and bar service throughout the show.

This show is All Ages. General seating. Box office and Will Call will open with doors at 6:30pm. Box office is CASH ONLY. There is an ATM located directly across the street.

This show may contain strong language, controversial issues, and words that make you re-evaluate your life. Advance tickets are NOT mailed out; they can be picked up at the Will Call station at the venue. Box office and Will Call will open with doors at 6:30pm. Café Deux Soleils has been the main venue for the Vancouver Poetry Slam since 1999. It is sold out every Monday by fans of spoken word poetry. It is an iconic venue run by a staff that are friendly and promote progressive values.

Café Deux Soleils is a semi-accessible venue to wheelchairs and scooters. They have recently completely renovated the bathrooms, installing three ungendered stalls. However there is no wheelchair-accessible bathroom.
