Murder Squared by Gary Earl Ross
A co-production between ART of WNY & Ujima Company, Inc., this is the world premiere of Murder Squared.
Local Artie-Award and Edgar Award Winning playwright, Gary Earl Ross describes this piece "as a retro celebration of the mystery story, with humor and surprise and ideas rising from suspense. Murder Squared is an obvious homage to Hitchcock." In association with ART, Ujima is proud to present these woven tales of mystery and murder.
Four vignettes. Four crimes. Four wildly different journeys into suspense and the unexpected add up to a single evening's celebration of the classic mystery short story.
Mr. Ross explains about the passion to do a piece in homage to Hitchcock, "I've always loved the short story. I grew up reading them in school anthologies and mystery and science fiction collections and watching them on Hitchcock Presents and Twilight Zone."
As part of the collaboration between ART and Ujima Company, artistic directors of both companies, Matthew LaChiusa and Lorna Hill will be directing two vignettes apiece and will feature members of the Ujima acting company as well as some of ART's favorite actors.
