Jackalope Theatre Company presents UNDER CONSTRUCTION
On November 28th, 2010, Jackalope will present its original adaptation of Charles Mee's Under Construction. Presented as the company's first production for the '10-'11 season at the Artistic Home Theatre, 3914 N Clark St., the show will run November 27th through December 19th. Show times: Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 6:30pm. Tickets $10-$15.
The piece looks at memory and the American family through the lenses of Norman Rockwell and modern assemblage art and asks- how do we know the truth about our lives if our memories are affected by our feelings toward them? Through a whirling clutter of color, sounds and raw emotion the play propels its main character towards realization and acceptance of her estranged Father. Under Construction is a patchwork of memory, catapulting between the idealism of the past and a heavily constructed present, ultimately asking where the truth of a person fits in. Director AJ Ware helms our newest piece that notes that we are collages of our family, our education, and ultimately our choices. In Under Construction, when a young woman is bombarded by her past she uses art to organize her memories and try to make sense of them.
Coming on the heels of Jackalope's critically acclaimed production of Andrew Burden Swanson's Moonshiner, Under Construction promises to be a pastiche of emotion; a grounded work of moving imagery and a thought-provoking treat for all.
