Vegan Cooking Class Series
THIS IS A CLASS PACKAGE FOR ALL THREE CLASS
SPRING FPARWRD WITH VEGAN SOUPS AND STEWS Add beat back to your step and nourishment to your body with fresh homemade herbal soups + stews. Learn the three keys to making easy, flavorful soups so that you can stock your fridge and come home to REAL home-cooked food after that long day at work.
We'll teach you techniques (some that take mere minutes!) that enhance the textures and flavors of the ingredients. Velvety, soothing, purées, for example, are an excellent way to prepare a vibrant spring soup. Create lunch meals that keep you powered-up (not loaded-down) and prevent the post-work 5pm sugar snack-attack!
Each participant will walk away with a booklet that includes the five class recipes with added nutritional tips.
Recipes: Homemade Vegetable Broth, Fresh Broccoli Soup, Spiced Carrot Lentil Soup, Sweet Potato Stew, Gluten-Free Skillet Cornbread
THE GREAT (GLUTEN-FREE) GRAINS Living healthfully is good medicine AND should be delicious. In fact, our philosophy is that if what you are eating was made at home and really tastes incredible - 9/10 times it's good for you so savor every. single. bite!
The "great grains" combined with creative cooking will add that oomph of flavor and nutrition we all crave. No more cardboard tasting gluten-free food-like products. Get with the ancient peoples of South america and Asia who knew a little thing or two about powerful healing plants. Millet? Amaranth? Teff? Montina? Quoi? We've all heard of quinoa, but are you familiar with the wondrous ancient grains?
The old kids on the block gluten-free grains are hearty, substantial, and nutritious, contain vitamins and minerals and are fiber-packed. They also provide a blank canvas for just about any herb, vegetable or vinaigrette as well as fruits, nuts, and seeds.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner, as a side or main course, you can mold ancient gluten-free grains into just about anything you may be craving at a moment.
We will cover the simple art of decoding each of the grains as well as how to store and prepare each of them for various tasks and meals. We will demonstrate that there is no season better equipped to showcase whole grains than the current moment's season!
Recipes: Roasted Cauliflower Millet Salad, Mushroom, Radicchio, Amaranth & Mint Salad, Roasted Onion & Wilted Greens Montina (Indian Rice Grass) Pilaf, Red Quinoa Hot Breakfast Cereal, Vegan Buckwheat Ginger Cookies
SEASONAL HERBAL DESSERTS: SWEET VEGAN FANTASIES COME TO LIFE It's time to lighten up as we move into warmer weather when we crave lighter + fresher fare.
Our Herbal + Tropical Desserts class focuses on using seasonal ingredients available at your local farmer's market to make fresh, light, and south florida desserts that satisfy your body's desire for nutrients and cravings for the finer things in life!
Fresh herbs add flavor and nutrients to desserts without relying on excess sugars or other typical dessert components. You will learn how to confidently select and store herbs, what flavors each herb lends to a dish, and be able to use them successfully and inventively when preparing dessert. You can use this skill for the flurry of events for the summer, and show your friends and family the delicious, light way to enjoy dessert this season.
Recipes: Key Lime Basil Bars, Sapodilla Thyme Cups with Banana Sorbet (Raw), Canistel (Egg-fruit) Coconut Cheesecake, Cardamom Chocolate Truffles, Lemon Rosemary Coconut Ginger Cookies
