November STEWshops - Byron Lahey presents: How to build fabric pressure and bend sensors
urbanSTEW presents STEWshops:
A new workshop series covering different technology topics and
software platforms relevant to the arts. The purpose of these
workshops is to empower artists and local community members by
introducing them to the various technologies available for use both in
art making and arts promotion.

2011 from 11:00am - 5:00pm for a new worksop series on different
art/technology topics.

Building your first electronic kit is fun and easy. Learn basic soldering skills and techniques from local experts to assemble your very own electronic Simon game to take home with you. This workshop is intended for beginners, even kids! $35 (includes kit)
12:30pm - 1:45pm:
HeatSync Labs presents: Intro to microcontrollers with arduino
Microcontrollers are the brains that control a wide variety of electronic projects. Learn the basics of microcontroller programming with the Arduino platform. Local experts will guide you through programming basics to make your Arduino board interact with a variety of electronic components. $15
2:00pm - 3:15pm:
Casey Farina presents: How to build your own contact microphones
Join us for an introductory workshop in the wonderful world of piezo transducers and contact microphones! These compelling audio devices can be used to amplify sounds typically too soft for musical performance. Build your very own contact mic and preamp. $15
3:30pm - 4:45pm:
Byron Lahey presents: How to build fabric pressure and bend sensors
In this hands-on workshop you will make your own pressure/bend sensor using inexpensive materials. The basic electronic principles of this device will be described, but no electronics experience is required. Examples of using this device with the Arduino microcontroller will be shown, but Arduino programming will not be included in this workshop. $10
