A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
"Something for everyone, a comedy tonight!" This joyful, hysterically funny musical from 1962 features the musical wit and artistry of Stephen Sondheim, elements of classical farce (mistaken identity, comments on social class, and characters running in and out of doors) and even a little influence of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus. It is the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his quest to win his freedom by helping his master win the girl next door.
Directed by Kelly Lacy. Due to the vaudevillian quality or this piece and the heaps of bawdy innuendo, we recommend this for ages 12 and up.
