TOUR AND TECHNICAL REVIEW OF NEW MODERN HOME
Modern design, approximately 2,400 square feet. Major products, methods and materials to be presented at design tour and discussion:
This program will discuss building code and plan check challenges of custom design. This program will include a presentation on the structural design challenges inherent with a high water table and current earthquake design standards in a modern design custom home. Additionally, this program will discuss the California Title 24 Energy Standards as they relate to large, metal-framed windows, lift and slide door systems, and LED lighting fixtures. Custom wood siding and ceiling systems using engineered wood systems, custom sinks and wall finish systems using hard-surface materials, and custom cabinetry and sliding door systems using various hardware systems will also be discussed. This program will take place on-site at a custom home construction site where the participants will be able to see firsthand the end result of overcoming the foregoing challenges.
Learning Objective 1: Participants will be provided with a broad overview of the plan check process of custom design.
Learning Objective 2: Participants will learn about high water table issues as they relate to residential design.
Learning Objective 3: Participants will learn about current earthquake design standards and how to incorporate them.
Learning Objective 4: Participants will learn how to select various exterior and interior materials and operating systems in order to meet the California Title 24 Energy Standards while satisfying the client's design preferences.
