The Open Door
This play is about the dysfunctional family dynamics that occur after the loss of a child as Vern and Marilyn, the couple, each choose how to cope. Vern is an alcoholic and abusive husband who blames himself for the loss of his son. Marilyn is Vern's wife, tormented by the loss of her son and unwilling to let it go. Casey, their teenage daughter is lost amongst the turbulent dynamics. Vern is plagued by demons assigned to the Crenshaw household. The demons have been ordered to bring the Crenshaw family to ruin. Vern and Marilyn are left with the consequences of their choices for all eternity.
