We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as Southwest Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884 - 1915
Performs March 12 - April 4 at New City Theater

Jackie Sibblies Drury's We Are Proud to Present brings together an ensemble of actors to create a play about a long forgotten, or possibly never remembered, genocide  the first genocide of the 20th century.  As this multi-racial theatre company grapples with how to properly tell a story from another time, another country, they find it leads them much closer to home than they'd like; asking the question, how can you ever tell a story fully when only one side was taking notes?  Although about an event in Africa over 100 years ago, this unexpectedly funny and unsettlingly accurate play is the theatre we need in America right now.
