Class: Creating The Ten-Minute Play
Class meets for six sessions on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m at White Bear Lake City Hall, Expansion Room, (2nd Floor), 4701 Highway 61 N, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.
Lakeshore Players invites you to create your own streak of lightning in this highly informative class. The class will cover:
Writing or revising a ten-minute play so that it is ready to be submitted to theatres;
The components of a good ten-minute play;
Making your play "ten-minute play festival-friendly;" plus
Hints and suggestions for getting your play noticed and how to edit your play.
Because plays are written for the stage, the seminar will conclude with a read-aloud play evening as well as specific venues on marketing your play and getting it on a stage.
Your play will be ready to be entered in Lakeshore Players' Annual Ten-minute Play Festival as well as 100 other theatres. Bring a notebook and pen to class and get ready to write.
INSTRUCTOR: Claudia Haas has had over 100 performances of her ten-minute plays produced around the world. Her ten-minute plays have been published by three publishers and she is included in two anthologies of "Best Ten-Minute Plays" by Smith and Kraus. Her plays have twice won "best in festival" and have placed numerous times. Coming up: Minnesota Shorts Festival in Mankato will be producing her ten-minute Dog Day Afternoon in September. As a playwright who generally writes for youth performers, she loves the 'anything goes" and imagination quotient of the ten-minute play format.
