The Psychic: An Extreme Playwright's Adventure
This is a special event to help celebrate Denver Arts Week!
It starts with a bunch of adventurous playwrights who take on the task of writing a 10-15 minute scene in 24 hours. The playwrights are provided with a set description complete with all props, including a Prop Actor. The Prop Actor is a character that the playwright must include. In this case - the Psychic Madame Sabine Matisse. However, the prop actor is an improvisational character, so no actual dialog may be written.
Once the scripts have been selected, on the day before the adventure a gaggle of Denver actors arrive at Dangerous Theatre at 11:00am and roles are passed out to anyone up for the challenge. Directors then disappear with the actors for 24 hours. All scenes have a short tech rehearsal on Sunday afternoon and there are two performances Sunday evening, at 6:00 & 8:00. The real challenge for the actors, in addition to learning their lines in 24 hours, is to learn them not knowing what the prop actor will say.
I have done a number of these adventures, both here in Denver and in Orlando, FL. They are lots of fun and show just how talented our local actors are!
Seating will be limited so reservations or advance purchase is recommended.
