"Trouble in Mind" Benefit Performance for Berkeley Public Education Foundation at Aurora Theatre
Thanks to a generous donation of tickets, 100% of the proceeds benefit BERKELEY PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION and its vital support of our Pre-School to 12th grade teachers and students. BPEF invests over $500,000 each year to enrich classrooms and expand learning opportunities, making our Berkeley schools exceptional and exciting places for learning!
"Trouble in Mind," written in 1955, would have been the first play by an African American woman to be produced on Broadway had its author, Alice Childress, not courageously resisted a change to its title or its ending. The story centers on a production of a play within the play -- an anti-lynching drama written and directed by white men. The black actress cast as its lead, played here by Margo Hall, faces struggles and compromises in a drama whose themes and questions about race in America still resonate today.
Tickets ordered by 4 PM September 15th will be mailed by BPEF to the address provided. After September 15th, tickets will be held at will-call. Thank you for supporting Berkeley schools!
