Young Creatives Arts Club by Musicollaborative
Musicollaborative Presents: YOUNG CREATIVES ARTS CLUB for Homeschoolers and Unschoolers Ages 6-12 Session III: "A Story, A Song--Music & Literacy Workshop" Four Mondays, 10a-2p, Feb. 23-March 16
Hosted by City Park Movement and Art Facilitated by Kaya Martínez, MME
Participants will enjoy opportunities to explore vocal and instrumental music, storytelling, poetry, songwriting, illustration, drama and more within a small mixed-age group. Each child's learning journey will culminate in a final project of their choosing--a written story, a recording, a storyboard or a dramatic performance.
In addition to group activities, there will be time for self selection from among a variety of hands-on literacy and musical centers for independent practice. Weather permitting, we'll enjoy lunches and nature exploration at nearby City Park each week. Registration includes all supplies and materials but participants are asked to provide their own lunches and water bottles.
Sibling discounts and payment plans are available. Email musiclabnola@gmail.com or call 504-942-7606 with any questions.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Kaya Martínez is a musician, artist, and educator dedicated to nurturing creativity and building community through the arts. Ms. Martínez enjoys holding space for learners of all ages to grow in their understanding in, of and about music and the other arts through a hands-heart-head facilitation style that incorporates exploration, imitation, improvisation and creation. In addition to her masters degree in music education and certification in Orff Schulwerk, Ms. Martínez draws upon a diverse background in both instrumental and vocal music, visual arts and dance to design engaging learning opportunities that dissolve boundaries, stimulate the imagination, and foster collaboration.
