Mark Doty: Up Close and On Fire
Poet and memoirist Mark Doty will read and discuss his work with a question and answer period. A reception, book sale and signing will follow. Doty's Fire to Fire: New & Collected Poems (Harper Perennial 2008) won the 2008 Book Award. Dog Years, a memoir, (Harper Collins 2007) was a Washington Post Book World Best Book of the Year and won the Israel Fishman-Stonewall Book Award for Nonfiction. According to Newsday (New York), "Doty is always searching for beauty in a world that can be tragic or simply mundane."
