Basics of Safe Canning Tuesday, June 9 Monday, June 15 Wednesday, Sept 23 Learn the basics of food safety and canning skills, including bacteria and food spoilage, canning equipment, and canning high/low acid foods. Demonstration of the process.
Prerequisite to Hands-On Classes Please note there is a *pre-requisite class* that must be completed before attending any of the following three hands-on classes. Be sure to complete the online course at least one week prior to ensure we receive notification of course completion. Before attending any of the three hands-on classes, you need to complete the 8-lesson online course offered through WSU and the University of Iowa. Cost for the complete online course is $25. *Tomatoes, Salsa, & Relish Tuesday, July 21 Monday, July 27 Wednesday, Oct 7 Learn the proper way to preserve tomatoes and tomato products. Demonstration and hands-on.
*Pickling & Fermenting Tuesday, Aug 11 Monday, Aug 17 Wednesday, Oct 14 Learn how to make crisp, tasty pickles along with the art of fermentation. Demonstration and hands-on.
