"stories that kept you awake at night when you were younger" is Grant Jacoby and Dancers second evening length performance at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA. The performance will include choreography by Artistic Director Grant Jacoby, and company member Audrey MacLean.
Company Bio:
Grant Jacoby & Dancers is a Boston-based dance company run by artistic director Grant Jacoby. Grounded in human emotion and tactile inspiration and research, GJ & Dancers blends the worlds of modern/post-modern dance, jazz, ballet, and musical theater to weave compelling stage stories. A wise man once taught: "when we are filled with so much emotion that we can no longer speak, we sing, and when we are filled with so much emotion that we can no longer sing, we dance." It is this pinnacle of performance in which GJ & Dancers strives to reach. Along the way, we explore and invoke happiness, sadness, empathy, apathy, disgust, shock, humor, horror, curiosity, chaos, and/or calm. In practice and performance, GJ & Dancers invites you to come along the journey with us, to question what you have known and seen before, and observe how what you have experienced will affect you afterwards.
Grant Jacoby & Dancers has presented work throughout New York City, Boston, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and France including, but not limited to, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, Green Street Studios, The Dance Complex, Les Champs Melisey, Connecticut College, Third Life Studios, RAW Boston, and The International Festival of Arts & Ideas. GJ & Dancers has also had a residencies at The Dragon's Egg and Green Street Studios.
