Bethesda Green Luncheon Speaker Series: Attracting Talent and Capital for Your Start Up
For an early stage company, the two most important factors in its initial success are finding and retaining key employees and raising capital.  Hear from one of the region's most successful entrepreneurs on these topics.  In this program you will learn from his passion and experience how to attract your first key hires and how to nurture and retain the most valuable asset in your company - people. He will briefly cover when it makes sense to leverage contractors and how to get the best results. In addition, he will discuss tips on raising capital in the DC metro area, including various funding sources, best practices to gain investor traction, and how to best setup your firm for follow-on capital.

Shahab Kaviani was most recently the co-founder and CEO of Rockville-based CoFoundersLab, which merged in 2014 to create Onevest, an equity crowdfunding platform headquartered in NYC. CoFoundersLab has become the largest community of entrepreneurs in the world with more than 40,000 members.  Prior to CoFoundersLab, Shahab co-founded Rockville-based HyperOffice, where he led product development and marketing.  He operated the startup for over 7 years serving more than 150,000 customers, prior to its successful exit to Atlanta-based Company.com.  Shahab's passion is in helping to build and foster the innovation economy.  He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Smith School of Business teaching international entrepreneurship.
