InContext's Graham Area, Brooklyn, Artists' Studio Tour
Please join InContext for our upcoming evening artists' studio walking tour in the Graham Area of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We will take you into each artist's studio where they will talk about their work and why they make it. You will be seeing new art works being created and also finished pieces. This is an insider's opportunity to get a better understanding of the creative process and the inspiration behind the work, with different artists working in diverse manners.

InContext's Williamsburg, Graham Area Tour will be on Tuesday, June 29th, 2010. Meet us either at Union Square by the Gandhi statue at 5:15pm or at 5:30pm at the NE corner of Graham and Metropolitan Avenues, at the Graham L train stop. Please be PROMPT as this is an evening tour and many people will want to move on to dinner afterwards.  The tour will end at 8:30pm, with an optional drink at a nearby establishment.  We recommend local restaurants Sel de Mer, Il Pasatorre, Mesa Coyoacan and Motorino for dinner and are happy to assist in making reservations for you.

Tour fee is $75. (Limited to 20 spaces)


Gael Peltier is a Berlin and Paris-based artist. His first solo exhibition was in Berlin, Germany,  at C/O Berlin, International Forum For Visual Dialogues. Other solo exhibition include, Galerie Xippas, Paris, Galerie Catherine Issert, France. His group exhibitions include "Mondo & Terra", Il MAN, Museo d'Arte di Nuoro, Italy,  "Insiders", CAPC MusÃÃ,Ã,Ã,©e d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux, France, "Fantasy & Island" FRAC Corse, Corsica, "An Act of Mischievous Misreading", ISCP, Brooklyn NY, "Double Bind" CNAC National Art Center, Villa Arson, Nice France. He performed during the last Istanbul Biennal and several times in NY. He is the Culturesfrance prizewinner for the International Studio and Curatorial Program, in NY.


Since receiving her MFA from Tyler School of Art in 1998, Angela Dufresne has exhibited widely in the U.S and abroad. In 2009, Dufresne had concurrent solo exhibitions in New York at CRG Gallery and Monya Rowe Gallery. Dufresne's work has also been exhibited at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT, University of Richmond Museum, Richmond, VI, Galeria Glance,Turin, Italy and The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA among others. Dufresne lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.


Born and raised in New York City, Guy Richards Smit attended the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, received his Bachelors of Arts degree from ParsonÃÃ,Ã,¢s School of Design and his Masters of Arts from Mason Gross, School of the Arts at Rutgers University.  He has been represented by Roebling Hall in New York (from 1999 to 2007) and is currently represented by the gallery Fred-London in the UK. He has shown with Angstrom gallery in LA and Dallas, at The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art and in Europe with both Gallerie Deux Calvaire and G-Module in Paris, France, and with Galleria Llucia Homs in Barcelona, Spain. He has also performed around the US and Europe with his ÃÃ,Ã,¢bandÃÃ,Ã,¢ Maxi Geil! & PlayColt.  His long format video ÃÃ,Ã,¢Nausea 2ÃÃ,Ã,¢ premiered at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.  He is currently working on a video suite comprised of 12ÃÃ,Ã,¢"15 videos to be projected simultaneously as an installation.


Rebecca Chamberlain, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, is known for her diverse accomplishments in fine art, fashion and performance. This body of work is ongoing and has been included in solo and group exhibitions 303 Gallery and Knoedler Project Space in New York, judi rotenberg gallery in Boston, Champion Fine Art in LA and Agenzio04 in Bologna, Italy, among others.  Chamberlain is represented by DODGE GALLERY, NYC. Her work has been reviewed in Artforum, the New York Times, The Boston Globe, Flash Art and Tema Celeste among other publications.


Alisa Baremboym was born in Moscow, Russia in 1982. She currently lives and works in New York. She received her MFA in 2009 from Bard College and her BFA in 2004 from School of Visual Arts, NY. Her recent exhibitions include a four person show at 179 Canal, NY; Moscow Biennial for Young Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia; ISCP, NY; Circular File Channel for Performa 2009; Andrew Kreps Gallery, NY; Taxter & Spengemann, NY and Printed Matter, NY.Alisa has been featured in publications such as Time Out NY and ArtReview, and is currently working on an online project Constructivist textile project for Triple Canopy, NY.

InContext Tours are led by Elizabeth Tenenbaum and Elissa Levy. Elizabeth is a painter, illustrator and contemporary art collection manager who lives in Brooklyn. She works with major private collections; consulted for Art in General, LMCC, Tribeca Open Artists' Studio Tours, and various local community arts groups. Elizabeth is a member of ArtTable and is currently pursuing her certificate in Fine Art Appraisal at NYU. Elissa is a mixed media artist, curator and consultant. Her work has been exhibited at the New Museum, NY,  White Columns, NY and G Fine Art, Washington, DC.  She recently curated a group exhibition at the ISCP, Brooklyn and was awarded a residency at Glenfiddich, Scotland in 2006.  She has been organizing a series of events entitled ÃÃ,Ã,¢Sewing SocialsÃÃ,Ã,¢ where guest are invited to wear clothing that needs repair and a team of darners will mend then.
