An Incredible Feast 2010 - Where the Farmers are the Stars!
Conceived by local celebrity chef Tamara Murphy, this is one of Seattle's premier food events and showcases an astounding variety of local flavors, all prepared using fresh ingredients from regional farmers, ranchers, fishers and foragers.

Held outdoors in a farmers market setting, guests will enjoy over 30 gourmet dishes, enjoy excellent local (Salmon Safe certified!) wines and beers, and meet the chefs and farmers behind the food.  The event also features country-fair-style games with fabulous prizes (and lots of chances to win!), live music and a truly fantastic dessert auction.  Also, in the spirit of sustainability and care for the environment, guests are encouraged (but not required) to bring their own plate and fork to use at the event.  All ticketholders who bring their own plate and fork will be entered in a drawing to win a Farmers Market gift basket valued at $100!

All proceeds from the event support the Good Farmer Fund (emergency relief for local farmers in need) and the NFMA's educational programing.  (Please also note: this event is 21 and over only.)

This year's Feast will again be held at the University District Market site at the University Heights Center for the Community, under one enormous event tent, complete with chandeliers to light up the farmer and chef tables.  The U-District market is the oldest and largest farmer/food-only market in Washington state, celebrating 17 years of operation in 2010.  This market is 'home' to thousands of shoppers each year.  All seven NFMA farmers markets accept food stamps, WIC and Senior coupons, and donate over 40,000 pounds of food to local food banks each year.

This year's stellar line-up of chefs includes: Julie Andres (La Medusa), Seth Caswell (emmer & rye), Angie Roberts (BOKA), Amy McCray (Eva), Craig Serbousek (Crow, Betty), Zephyr Paquette (Elliot Bay Cafe), Taichi Kitamura (Chiso, Kappo), Don Curtiss (Volterra) and many more! A sampling of dishes from past "Feasts" include: Wild Coho Salmon with Moroccan Olive-Harissa Tapenade; Chantrelles, Huckleberries and Moscovy Duck Breast with Sherry Syrup; Red Beet Salad with Point Reyes Blue Cheese and Lemon Mint Vinaigrette; Corn Gaspacho with Escabeche of Carrots; Grilled Peach Salad with Goat Cheese and Truffle Vinaigrette; Schuh Farms Green Beans and "Big Ugly" Carrot Shiraae Salad; Heirloom Tomato Salad with Watercress and Fried Shallots...

The Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance is a community-based 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to preserving Washington farmland, helping family farms thrive and grow, and educating consumers about the importance of supporting local agriculture.  The NFMA organizes seven 'farmer-only' markets in Seattle where city dwellers can buy direct from local, diverse and sustainable farms.  Local family farms are essential to the health of our food systems, our environment, and our local economy...and provide us with an unparalleled variety of seasonal harvests.
