Celebrating Rum: The New World's Spirit & its Cuisine with Chef Daisy Martinez & St. John Frizell
Rum has been part of Latino culture for 500 years -- its culture has strongly influenced the cuisines and flavors of the regions where they are produced. And today, it's hotter than ever, it's the spirit of choice for many of the nation's top chefs and mixologists.
Join chef Daisy Martinez of the Food Network and restaurateur/writer St. John Frizell of the recently opened Fort Defiance in Brooklyn, and embark on a rum-fueled cruise of the Latin Caribbean, as they explore the spirit of sugar cane in all its different styles, from the light, playful rums that made the Daiquiri and Mojito famous, to the dark sipping rums aged in oak barrels. Enjoy Chef Daisy's most acclaimed recipes like her avocado-stuffed crab salad, accompanied by classic and contemporary drinks, straight from the menus of the world's most exciting cocktail bars.
4% of all event ticket sales will benefit Grow NYC's (formerly the Council of the Environment of New York City) "New Farmer's Development Project" that helps immigrant farmers New York's Hudson Valley & Catskill Regions, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.
Guests must be 21 years or older.
