Exploring Peru's gastronomy and its Pisco Trail
A Tasting Seminar with Chef Julian Medina & Master Mixologist Dale Degroff
Almost unknown until recently, Peruvian cuisine is conquering the palates of the most renowned chefs worldwide. So much that a world gastronomy tour is now unthinkable without a stop in its capital: Lima. Peru's wild choice of fresh ingredients and the gentle blend of immigrant traditions, such as Spanish, African, Chinese and Japanese, have created one of the World's most unique and delicious cuisines.
Join Chef Julian Medina of Yerba Buena & Toloache and Master Mixologist Dale Degroff for a wonderful tasting exploration of Peruvian cuisine and of its most celebrated spirit: Pisco.
During the early 1990's Dale added the Pisco Sour to his menu at the world famous Rainbow Room. In his first book, "The Craft of the Cocktail" Dale reprinted the old Pisco drink "Coctel Algeria"as well as the Pisco Sour as it had appeared in 1959. Before long there was a resurgence of popularity in this remarkable spirit that had not only survived Prohibition but the Peruvian military reform of 1968. Dale has since been awarded "La Orden del Sol del Peru" by the Government of Peru and continues to celebrate Piscos.
Chef Julian will prepare delicious dishes exploring Peru's traditional cuisine and flavors, to be paired with Dale's pisco cocktails.
Come join these two tastemasters for a fascinating (and tasty!) introduction to the intricacies of this unique country.
