Event
The Empanadas and Wines of Latin America With Chef Natalia Machado and Sommelier Ivan Ruiz
There are a few things in Latin America that each country claims as its own due to their specific interpretation of it. Among them: empanadas and wines. We've all probably enjoyed an all-classic Argentinean empanada with a full-bodied malbec. What few realize is that in Argentina alone, there are different regional empanadas from Salta, to Mendoza, to Los Barrios PorteÃos; the same happens with its grapes, from Torrontes, to San Juan, to Mendoza.
Join Chef Natalia Machado of Industria Argentina and Azul Bistro, accompanied by Sommelier Ivan Ruiz, a noted authority on the wines of Latin America, as they explore the history, traditions and flavors of Empanadas and the most significant wine-producing regions with their signature wines. From Baja California in Mexico, to the Patagonia in Argentina and Chile, get acquainted with a whole "New World" of exotic, yet familiar flavors and textures.
4% of all event ticket sales will benefit Grow NYCâs (formerly the Council of the Environment of New York City) New Farmerâs Development Project that helps immigrant farmers New York's Hudson Valley & Catskill Regions, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.
Guests must be 21 years or older.
